How did we get here so quickly?
It seems like only yesterday I was holding you in my arms for the first time. I remember looking at your tiny face in complete awe. You were so precious, so beautiful, and all mine. I didn’t want anyone to hold you for too long because I wanted you close to me.
At that moment, I became your mother—your mom.
That new title brought emotions I had never experienced before. I was overjoyed and afraid at the same time. I loved you more than I knew it was possible to love someone, yet I was frightened by the thought of how cruel the world could be. I wanted to protect you from every disappointment, painful experience, and broken heart.
I was ready to pray for you, protect you, and give my life for you.
Now, 30 years later, I realize that motherhood is not just about protecting our children. It is also about trusting God with them. As mothers, we must eventually loosen our grip and place our children into the hands of the One who created them, knows them completely, and loves them even more than we do.
Babygirl, motherhood has certainly been the ride of my life! We have experienced so much together. We have laughed until our sides hurt, cried through painful moments, stayed up late watching our favorite television shows, enjoyed nail shop visits, run errands, done each other’s hair, and spent precious time with the babies.
We have shared long conversations, exchanged even longer text messages, given honest opinions, and had plenty of girl talk. We have also experienced tense moments when we had to tell each other exactly how we felt. Sometimes, those conversations were much-needed reality checks. Other times, one—or both—of us was simply caught up in our feelings.
Through every season, our relationship has continued to grow.
Our bond is not perfect, but it is real. It is filled with honesty, laughter, disagreements, forgiveness, encouragement, and unconditional love. I appreciate the friendship we have developed and the special moments we continue to share.
Babygirl, there are so many things I love and admire about you.
You are a strong-willed woman and a devoted mother who loves, protects, and provides for her three kings. Watching you care for my grandsons makes my heart smile. Motherhood is not always easy, but you continue to show up for them, love them, and give them the best of yourself.
You are sassy, opinionated, and a tell-it-like-it-is kind of woman. You do not sugarcoat your words—and sometimes, Momma has to prepare herself before asking for your opinion! But I value your honesty and the beautiful heart behind it.
You are loving, loyal, creative, and a ride-or-die friend.
Like all of us, you have made mistakes. However, your mistakes do not define who you are. I have watched you stumble, learn, get back up, and keep moving forward. Life has given you reasons to quit, but you have refused to stay down.
Thank God for His Spirit living inside you.
“Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
—1 John 4:4 KJV
As you enter your thirties, I pray you will see yourself the way God sees you. You are loved. You are chosen. You are gifted. You are valuable. You have a purpose that no mistake, disappointment, or difficult season can erase.
May you recognize the gifts God has placed inside you and have the courage to use them. May you walk confidently into this new decade without fear, comparison, or apology. May you stop doubting what God has already confirmed and trust Him with every detail of your journey.
I pray your thirties bring greater wisdom, deeper peace, renewed joy, financial blessings, meaningful opportunities, and healthy relationships. May God heal the places that still hurt, strengthen the areas that feel weak, and give you clarity for every decision ahead.
Most importantly, keep Jesus at the center of your life. Draw closer to Him. Depend on Him when you know what to do—and especially when you don’t. Allow Him to lead you, correct you, protect you, and remind you of who you are.
Your father and I want nothing but God’s very best for you. We are proud of the woman you have become, and I am blessed beyond measure to have the privilege of being your mother.
You, your brother, and my grandsons are truly gifts from the Lord.
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
—Psalm 127:3 NIV
Being your mother has taught me many lessons. You have taught me patience—and yes, I am still learning! You have taught me persistence, self-control, how to embrace my authentic self, and how important it is to treasure the present because tomorrow is not promised.
You have also taught me how to pray longer, harder, and more fervently.
Thirty years ago, I held my baby girl in my arms. Today, I celebrate the woman, mother, daughter, and friend you have become.
Happy 30th Birthday, my beautiful Babygirl!
This milestone is more than the celebration of another birthday. It is a reminder of God’s faithfulness throughout your life. He has carried you, covered you, and kept you. Your story is still being written, and I believe some of your most beautiful chapters are still ahead.
Your thirties are not simply the end of one chapter. They are the beginning of something new.
I look forward to more laughter, late-night conversations, girl talk, reality checks, celebrations, and unforgettable moments with you.
Life with you has never been dull—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love you more than words could ever express.
Happy 30th Birthday, Babygirl!
Love always,
Mom
