We are loved! Wow! It’s overwhelming to understand how much our Heavenly Father loves us. Think about that. The love we have for one another does not compare to the love God has for us.
“38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 NIV
I love the way The Message Bible reads Romans 8:31-39. These remarkable nine verses are endearing, comforting, and extraordinary. Nothing can tear us from God’s love.
As I read through chapter eight of Romans one morning, there were some things the Lord revealed to me. Have you ever read a familiar passage of Scripture, and God shows you something new? Well, that’s what He did to me during our quiet time together.
Here’s what the Lord revealed to me.
1. I can’t lose! He wanted me to look at what it means to lose. These are some words synonymous to lose:
To be beaten, defeated, come off second-best, fail, fall, be conquered, to beat severely, bow out, go down, lose out, relinquish, admit defeat, back down, come to grief, come up short, default, fall short, get the worst, give in, go under, take a licking, throw in the towel, be taken to the cleaners, take a beating.
Many of us have thought and or said some of those words about ourselves. However, God says, through the penmanship of Paul, “with God on our side, how can we lose?” (MSG) We CAN NOT! It may look like I’m losing, but I’m not! It may feel like you’re defeated, but you’re not.
You are victorious! So walk with your head held high, my friend, because God says you win! We are more than conquerors. We’re champions triumphing over every circumstance! How do we know? God’s Word says so!
“If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself (God) to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?” (Rom. 8:31-32, MSG)
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 15:57 ERV)
2. As I read through Romans 8:31-39, the Lord reminded me that He is my Protector. God covers you and me You and I. We’re safe. According to the Bible, “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Ps. 4:8 ERV)
Psalm 91 and throughout Scripture tells us that we are safe and secure when we abide in our Heavenly Father. Moses wrote, “Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, ‘You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.’” (Ps. 91:1 GNT)
Who can harm us? No one! Listen, God allowed His son to suffer for our sake, take the punishment for the wrong we did, and give His life for us. Jesus Christ is currently standing up for us in Heaven. Would He let anything or anyone drive a wedge between us? No. God is our Defender and Protector. Yes, He fights for you.
3. God revealed and reminded me about some beautiful promises in today’s passage of scripture. He also convicted me. He told me that I must have confidence in His Word, power, and promise. I must be convinced and believe that He will do what He said.
We need to know that no situation, demon or death, or anything can separate us from God’s love. Not even that!
Sis, who or what is trying to separate you from Christ’s love?
Fill in the blank by writing down all those things you are struggling with today that are trying to pull you away from Christ’s love. After you answer the question, I want you to write these three words in all caps: NOT EVEN THAT!!
Beloved, let us be confidently convinced that we are loved by our magnificent and awesome Father. Allow these three biblical principles to encourage you to embrace God’s love and live a victorious life free in Christ:
- We triumph over every situation.
- We have God’s protective covering.
- There’s nothing we can encounter in our life that can ever come between us and God’s love.
No. Not even that!
Let’s walk in freedom together, knowing that we are loved immensely by our Creator.
