Scripture Focus:
“And without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him…” – Hebrews 11:6a AMP
Introduction:
Faith is a big deal to God. It isn’t optional — it’s essential. It’s how we’re saved, how we stand when faced with adversities, how we live, how we endure, how we win! It’s how we walk with God and what pleases Him most. Hebrews 11 is often referred to as the “Hall of Faith” because it highlights individuals who dared to put their trust in God. It’s filled with people who believed even when they didn’t see.
Christianity is built on faith. By faith, we believe that Jesus is God’s Son — that He walked the Earth for 33 years, was crucified, and rose again. We believe that through Jesus Christ, we have life and that life is abundant (John 10:10). We believe God has chosen us (Deut. 7:6) and called us to do great works for Him (John 14:12). By faith, we believe His Spirit dwells within us — and because of that, we can do everything He’s called us to do (Phil. 4:13). We trust in His promises, even when we haven’t seen them come to pass. And because of our faith, Jesus says we are blessed — spiritually secure and favored by God!
Jesus told Thomas and the other disciples:
“Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, Thomas, do you now believe (trust, have faith)? Blessed and happy and to be envied are those who have never seen Me and yet have believed and adhered to and trusted and relied on Me.”
— John 20:29 AMPC
Faith Makes Us Right with God:
It’s our faith in Jesus Christ that makes us right with God — not our works, not the law, not anything else.
“We are made right with God by putting our faith in Jesus Christ. This happens to all who believe. It is no different for the Jews than for the Gentiles. We firmly believe that a person is made right with God because of their faith. They are not saved by obeying the law.”
— Romans 3:22, 28 NIRV
Why Faith Matters:
Our faith is crucial — it matters deeply. It’s the foundation of our relationship with our Creator, and without it, it’s impossible to please God. Without faith, how can we believe in the Scriptures? How can we grow in our relationship with God?
My faith — my trust in Jesus Christ — helps me grow, develop, and deepen my walk with the Father. I’ve never seen Jesus with my natural eyes, but I believe He is real. I know He’s real — and I know God is real too. My faith gives me that assurance. In fact, I’m so confident in who He is that I’ve given my life to Him, and I’m even willing to die for Him. That’s how strong my faith in God is.
Walk by Faith — Every Day:
Paul encourages us to walk by faith, not by sight. Through God’s Word, we’re taught to live with a confident belief in His promises. Every single day, we must choose to live by faith.
Let’s not forget or doubt what God has promised. Day after day, He takes care of us. He showers us with His never-ending kindness and compassion (Lamentations 3:22-23). He never leaves us (Deut. 31:8). He is always on time.
Conclusion:
We must have faith in God and trust His Word. It’s not optional — it’s essential for the believer. So, let’s live this life to the fullest, with unwavering, confident faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ.
